Event Idea: Rent a Projector!

When you think of a projector, most people immediately flash to thoughts of the office and work, or perhaps a classroom setting. What people don't usually think of is how many other great things projectors can be used for. They no longer require the big, junky machines and massive pull down screens. They can be used indoors or outdoors, and are very portable.
Now there are infinite possibilities and uses for a projector at a big special event. Projectors can be fairly expensive though, especially when they are very good ones. Most people don't find the need to actually own a projector for themselves, so renting a projector for a big event can be by far the best way for many people to go.

These are some examples of occasions, places and uses that a person might find renting a projector particularly useful for:

Outdoor Events
Much like a drive-in cinema, projectors can be used outdoors at your event to play a constant slideshow or video to get people in the mood (for example, at a snowboarding event you could show a loop of snowboarders doing big mountain tricks in the background) or to demonstrate your product at a tradeshow, tell a story through pictures or video, etc.

Visual effects
You got the DJ for your event, but how about adding a visual element to the tunes he's spinning? Give your crowd something to look at while they dance, whether a stream of random images and video, a visualizer to match the music, or even live feed of the dancing crowd waving at the camera.

Bigger than life video games
If you're having a fun get together of friends, how amazing would it be to have a huge projection of your video game match or Rock Band song?

Karaoke
Everyone loves karaoke. Many times people will be too shy to go up and try it because the screen that the words are on is so small that everyone has to huddle around in a very small bubble. Sometimes people will be too shy to enter that seemingly exclusive circle to have a go singing. But if you broadcast the words with a fun video on a big wall so everyone can see it at once, chances are people will love it and start all singing along together. Put the words up big on the wall and have the whole place singing, dancing and having a great time!

Share communications
It can be really useful to have a main area where people can share instant communications with each other, or where you can share your messages with the audience at your event. For example, if everyone has their smart phones and are tweeting about the event you could make it so all the tweets show up on the wall from the projector. It's also a great way for you to be able to share your messages with the crowd to make quick and easy announcements, such as the current special at the bar or what the next entertainment or speaker will be.

Share personal messages
Another fun touch that you could add to your event with the use of a rented projector would be personal messages that people can share with each other publicly. Sort of like the Jumbo Tron big screen at a sporting event like a basketball or football game, people could give you their messages to be broadcast at your event. If this is done well, it can be a lot of fun! Maybe you'll even see a few proposals at your event – now that would really be memorable!
